Jansen Owen is a conservative leader with a proven record
to match. He has fought to protect taxpayers, defend
families, and strengthen criminal penalties for those who
prey on the innocent. Committed to fighting crime and
improving public safety, he will take that same fight to
our courthouses as our next District Attorney.
Jansen Owen is serving his second term in the Mississippi
House of Representatives, where he proudly represents
District 106, including portions of Pearl River and Lamar
Counties. Since first being elected in 2019, Representative
Owen has built a reputation as one of the Legislature's
most conservative voices.
Throughout his time in office, Jansen has led the fight to
protect Mississippi families by cracking down on violent
criminals, child predators, human traffickers, and drug
dealers poisoning our communities with fentanyl. He has
championed legislation to strengthen penalties against
those who prey on children, expand the death penalty for
the most heinous crimes against minors, and ensure fentanyl
traffickers face serious prison time for the devastation
they cause.
As Vice Chairman of the Judiciary B Committee, Jansen has
been on the front lines of advancing public safety
legislation and supporting law enforcement officers who put
their lives on the line every day. He also serves on the
Education, Transportation, Agriculture, Elections &
Apportionment, County Affairs, and Youth & Family Affairs
Committees, where he consistently fights for policies that
uphold law and order and protect Mississippi communities.
Jansen is a steadfast defender of the Constitution, a
strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and a firm
believer that government's first responsibility is to
protect innocent citizens from criminals. He has
consistently worked to ensure repeat offenders and violent
criminals are held fully accountable for their actions.
Before serving in the Legislature, Jansen dedicated his
career to public service and the legal system, serving as
Chief Deputy Chancery Clerk, Deputy Circuit Clerk, and Law
Clerk to the County Court in Pearl River County.
He earned his law degree from Tulane Law School, where he
served as Managing Editor of the Tulane Law Review, worked
as a student defense attorney in the Tulane Criminal
Justice Clinic, and prosecuted criminal cases as a student
prosecutor under Mississippi's Limited Practice Act in the
Second Circuit Court District.
Outside the Capitol, Representative Owen practices law as
founder and managing attorney of Owen Law Firm, PLLC. He
remains active in his communities and in organizations that
support constitutional rights, conservative values, and the
rule of law, including the National Rifle Association and
the Federalist Society.
In addition to his legislative and civilian legal career,
Jansen proudly serves as Judge Advocate General (JAG)
Officer in the Mississippi Army National Guard, where he is
attached to the 168th Engineer Brigade out of Vicksburg,
Mississippi. His military service reflects his continued
commitment to defending the rule of law, serving his state
and country, and protecting Mississippi families both in
and out of uniform.
Jansen lives in Pearl River County with his two sons, Darby
and Mabry. As a Christian, conservative, and lifelong
public servant, he remains committed to fighting for safer
communities, stronger families, and a justice system that
puts victims first and criminals behind bars.
